Unique People Services (UPS) is one of NYC’s largest provider of housing, health, and support services for low-income and homeless individuals and families challenged with HIV/AIDS, mental health, substance usage and developmental disabilities.
Nonprofit: Unique People Services
Since 1991, Unique People Services has grown and now operates 27 supportive housing programs in the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn, Queens, and Westchester. Each year UPS serves more than 800 individuals by providing housing and community-based outreach services. Additionally, individuals receive meals and various support services that includes case management, educational and vocational training that focuses on supporting the highest possible level of individual living and achievements. UPS provides both transitional and permanent housing for NYC’s formerly homeless individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS, mental health, substance usage, developmental disabilities as well as low and moderate income households.
Project: Strategic Planning
New York City faces overwhelming challenges with affordable housing, rising costs, broader health services delivery requirements, and financial constraints with limited city and state funding. This shift in the healthcare landscape, continuous increase in vulnerable populations served and limited funds requires UPS to do more with less. UPS rapid growth is a direct result of the increasing public health and housing needs of the greater NYC area. UPS seeks to identify new opportunities to expand its long-time collaboration with City and State funding agencies to continue expanding and providing quality, comprehensive direct services. UPS is seeking assistance in developing a strategic plan to address:
- Managing Growth
- Diversifying Funding
