The pandemic has changed everything: Teaching methods, student needs, funding approaches and employer requirements. How do we comprehend the changes and inform LaGuardia’s planning?
**This project will be done with virtual meetings.**
Nonprofit: LaGuardia Community College
Located in Long Island City, LaGuardia’s mission is to educate and graduate one of the most diverse student populations in the country to become critical thinkers and socially responsible citizens. The school has 19,000 enrollees seeking Associate degrees and 52,000 taking Continuing Education courses – often leading to Certifications.
Presently, there are 8 health-care related programs and 11 technology-related programs providing education to over 10,000 students. The School wishes to expand both its healthcare and tech programs by adding capacity to present programs and/or generating entirely new ones. Growth planning will focus on changing market needs, largely from the pandemic, and possible tuition funding options that could
make education more affordable.
Project: Post pandemic growth strategy
Our project will help LaGuardia map an expansion plan for its healthcare and tech offerings, mindful of employers’ needs and possible alternative tuition funding models. Consideration will also be given to the migration towards virtual teaching and challenges that presents for requisite “hands on” training. We will:
- Research the changes likely to occur in employer requirements and help design the appropriate programs to meet those needs in healthcare and technology.
- Determine changing employer needs in both sectors.
- Recommend LaGuardia approaches in program design, staffing and marketing.
- Investigate relevant funding opportunities.
