BCHS is committed to ending homelessness in Brooklyn. It provides housing and services for more than 1,000 formerly homeless and at-risk individuals each year.

**This project will be done virtually.**

Nonprofit: Brooklyn Community Housing and Services

BCHS provides housing for 412 individuals daily and 1,000 annually. On-site services include case management, mental health and substance abuse counseling, nursing, childcare, vocational training, and recreational/socialization. Additional programming includes homelessness and eviction prevention, veteran’s services, and specialized services for criminal justice involved individuals and formerly homeless seniors.

Since its founding BCHS has had a strict Brooklyn-only focus.  It has created a robust Brooklyn brand identity and is considered the leading expert regarding services available in Brooklyn to prevent homelessness.

Project: Expansion Strategy

BCHS wants to explore if its Brooklyn-only focus should remain or whether it should expand by providing services in the other four boroughs. As the housing market fluctuates with the economy, the option of placing individuals in better priced/more abundant housing in areas other than just Brooklyn may be desirable.
