The Carle seeks a marketing/merchandising plan for launching a new e-commerce store, with suggestions for improving the user interface and the store’s page flow.

 

Nonprofit: The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art (“The Carle”)

The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is the national champion for picture books: collecting, preserving, and exhibiting original illustrations, encouraging guests of all ages to read and create art, and fostering a growing audience passionate about children’s literature. Located in Western MA, they both exhibit regularly at major NYC museums (The New York Historical Society, South Street Seaport) and host an annual award ceremony here. Most Trustees live in NYC and The Carle works closely with all the publishing houses here: Penguin, Harper Collins, Scholastic and MacMillan.

Project: Marketing

The Carle’s Museum Bookshop is nationally known for its large picture book section, including many signed books, and its Eric Carle books and merchandise. It is welcoming and profitable. In contrast, the online store is cumbersome, uninviting and unprofitable. The Carle would like our help revamping it and attracting business.

The objective of the project is to:

  • Design an actionable marketing and merchandising plan to support the launch of a new, rebuilt e-commerce store.
  • Help to improve the appearance and functionality of the online store.
